Hardgate Well

This is the new face of hidden history in Aberdeen - the Hardgate Well, located not far from the site of the Battle of Justice Mills, hence the date of 1644, was supposed to have been flooded with the blood of the dying citizens of Aberdeen massacred by the Marquis of Montrose's troops. (This was a Covenanter v Royalist 'fecht' which ultimately would cost the Royalists, namely Montrose and Huntly (another Catholic supporter of Charles I) their lives, though Convenant supporting Aberdonians were slaughtered that day.)

My current objection is that the new Raddison hotel was built on top of this historic well, and the site of a Georgian town house called Strawberry Bank. It is practically impossible to find unless you know it is there! How many more of our historic sites will be ripped up and concreted over like this? It's a poor show for Aberdeen!!
