Purangi Paradise

This is a homestay house half way out the river mouth from our boat ramp. It always looks like the most idyllic place to lay on the lawn in the world.
Explored the river by inflatable this morning, just because you can,,,the tide being particularly high today and giving us access much further than usual. Saw some amazing mangrove swamps, hidden houses and even little huts built on stilts in the river bed.( most likely mimais, for duck hunting) All good old fashioned adventuring. When I dropped the two 10 year olds off on the stilt hut, for a time of aloneness and exciting abandonment, I was disappointed to hear when we came back in the inflatable after chasing sting rays up the rivers edge, that they had turned the hut into a KFC Drivethrough and wanted to take our orders as we went passed. Almost tempted to leave the city boys there for the night to teach them some rural manners and realities. What is this generation coming to??
