The Temple of Sewage

The Abbey Mills pumping station is disguised as a Victorian grand building (a cross between a Byzantine church and a stately home). It was part of engineer's Joseph Bazalgette's grand sewage system for London. The building labelled the 'Temple of Sewage' looks suitably gothic under the grey skies of a English autumn day, slightly menacing and haunted behind barbed wire.
