A Dog's Dinner

The Concrete Cruiser

After a long lie and late breakfast it was back down to the beach for a bracing walk. The easterly is still blowing and it's getting colder by the day but it feels great. His Majesty loves the wind, it really makes him come alive - well I suppose it does that for us all.

Here we see the island of Inchmickery peeking out of the stormy gloom. The local urban legend is that it was sculpted to look like a cruiser approaching the naval base at Rosyth in order to draw away any enemy aircraft that was attacking- and you can see why.

Actually that's not far from the truth as it was covered in concrete gun emplacements during the First and Second World wars.

So there it remains forever ploughing it's way through stormy seas never to reach its home port.
