The Choir

The Choir
Today we opted for mass in the Church of St Padre Pio, The Capuchins, in Lusangazi, our second home by now! It was an excellent decision. We got to see and hear the Bishop elect for the new Diocese of Karonga, Martin, and the then there was the choir, what a treat. They were alive, happy, colourful and magnificently tuneful. They brightened the hearts and lifted the spirit. They sang and danced and so did everyone else. Mary gave them a little money to help with expenses and they sang and danced some more, amid bowing (which is not allowed) hugging, shaking hands and generally celebrating.
Children on backs even cried in tune (rarely do children cry in Malawi), one little boy while feeling me and pulling the hair on my arms (a constant fascination) peed on the floor: the mother left, came back with a mop, cleaned up and all was as before. A magical moment! If this happened in Dublin the church would have to be evacuated and fumigated!!
