Josh here is a Canadian. He and his wife Deborah (a delightful couple) are only in Scotland for a couple of years while Deborah does some of her training as a vet! As a budding violinist he was thrilled when Victoria was willing to give him some tuition. And here they are at one of their weekly sessions.

It was the violin which brought Victoria to be married to Alberto. Alberto is a South African born Italian musician and among other musical posts he is the Conductor of the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra. Victoria played in the orchestra..... the rest is history as they say.

Alberto has been a friend of mine for 12 years - he and Victoria (whose superb wedding a few years ago lasted a couple of hours - with the Edinburgh City Organist, an orchestra with distinguished guest conductor, several leading soloists - and words in seven languages) have two most lovely children, C and O.

The wedding, by the way, was followed by steak pie and lashings of specially imported wine for hundreds.

Bill I have been trying to get into the series for weeks - but it is the usual problem. I blip him early in the day, and then get seduced by another image somewhere and lose the chance. So I have brought him in by the back door.

Bill is one of the truest friends one can find. I have travelled often in France with him and Hamish (whose turn will come). During his working life, Bill built dams all over the world. After his retirement, he continued to exercise his talent as an engineer and a dam-builder by acting for many years as an Arbitrator between governments and contractors who had got into trouble with dam projects. Again, this took him all over - but especially to Asia.

(I wonder whether he could do some good in the long running Edinburgh Tram Dispute?)
