Stock Exchange, Manila

I flew to Manila on Sunday night for 2 days packed full of meetings - and just in time for a Super Typhoon! Awesome timing. Though, Manila was really only hit with a bit of heavy rain. Nothing compared to last year. I met a woman who works in one of the companies we met with whose entire first floor completely flooded last year - in 30 minutes! Luckily they had a 2 story house, but were stuck there for 3 days. They only had enough time to move food, water, and the most valuable items such as their TVs to the 2nd floor. Everything else (furniture, car, appliances) was completely damaged and had to be repaired or replaced. So heartbreaking. I remember seeing photos from last year's devastation and can't image such an experience. She mentioned to me that she was happy that last year it happened on a Saturday, so her daughter was at home with her and not at school where she wouldn't have been able to get to her. Needless to say, she was a bit paranoid about any typhoons in the region and was keeping a close eye on it's progress...
