Boston Massacre

On 5 March, 1770, in response to threats and taunts from an unruly mob, British soldiers discharged their muskets into the crowd on King Street (now State Street) Boston. Three people were killed and eleven injured; two more subsequently died. The event became known as the Boston Massacre and it helped fuel the rebellion among the colonies that led to the War of American Independence (called the Revolutionary War on this side of the Atlantic).

The five men, Samuel Gray, John Caldwell, Crispus Attucks, Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr are buried in a single grave in the Granary Burying Ground, a stone's throw from the site of incident, and is visited by anyone taking a historical tour of Boston.

A group of Florida school children had left this drawing leaning against the headstone and I couldn't resist taking a picture of it.
