Button Necklace

I just found this today, in a bag from my Great Aunt. We've been sorting her things for some time, I've inherited some lovely furniture, and sewing bits and pieces. But only today did I find this, I guess I thought it was just a pack of buttons. I've fixed a couple back on and will now wear it. I'm guessing it was made in the war, or just as a crafty idea. I've asked my other Great Aunt if she remembers it being made.
