Don't panic - holiday day 5

Today was child #2's 6th birthday. A big one, as are all birthdays around that specific age group. We were awoken earlyish and we opened presents. The fact that the birthday is away from home does not seem to stand in the way of a good time.

We got in the car relatively early and headed for the bizarrely named but highly recommended (by a man called Iannis) Banana Beach. After the drive there, we discovered that the beach was pretty much abandoned for the end of the season, I'm guessing there is normally a kicking atmosphere, a restaurant and a bar with many young people playing volleyball etc. What we got was an empty beach which was simply stunning, beautiful clear clue water and sand, something which appears to have deserted the beaches of Zante since storms hit.

So we swam in the sea, unfortunately didn't find fish to swim with the water was too disturbed by the weather and we warmed gently in the sun. Have to say I feel so lucky to be able to have a holiday at this time of the year. As I said previously, all bonuses go to holidays, the most important time of the year as it is club107 unstressed and hopefully sunkissed.

Something else very strange happened while we were on the beach, something which has never happened to me before. We were standing on the beach and all of a sudden we felt a bang on the ground. The only way I could describe it would be to say that it was if a huge bus had been dropped beside us, except I'm not sure it would have made the same singular vibration. Scaryish as we imagined 2012 style scenarios.

After some food we went to Zakynthos town which kind of underlined our preference for a mixing with the locals style break.

The day ended with many people singing happy birthday and her dancing with friends. This is fairly typical, the previous day she joined a group of reluctant people doing a Greek dance of her own volition. Child #2 will definitely be one to start or join a party.
