Cesar

Cesar can talk the hind legs of a donkey and owns a very traditional shop-bar-restaurant near us which we've nick-named 'The Cheap Place', on account of it having a very reasonable menu del dia available in the evenings (not a common practice here).

It's always embarrasssing when we tell guests we'll treat them to a meal and DD asks 'Where'll we go?', and I reply, 'The Cheap Place!'

The truth is you get fantastic steaks, Spanish ham and just about everything else here and it is a treasure trove as Rafa, Cesar's son (and pictued to the right), is a collector of many things from Olympic 'pins', to Coca-Cola memorabillia, to bottled water and whisky including one bottle worth over 30,000 Euros.

And Rafa is preparing a special evening with a very special menu (which we will not be attending) for 20 people at 5,000 Euros per head! So, now when DD asks me the same question, I will respond 'Why, the 5,000 Euro place, of course!'
