autumn

it rained most of the day today, in fact the winds were so fierce we were under a tornado watch. the morning started out pretty warm and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees as the day went on and the rain kept falling.

rainy days just make me want to crawl under the covers and pop in a dvd or two (or three). the alternative would be to spend the day in the kitchen making a huge pot of chili and baking something dense and chocolatey. my chili is delish and my secret is a dash of cocoa powder. think mole, good stuff.

but as i had to work about 10 hours today, neither of those scenarios took place. perhaps later in the week, since i'm playing hooky on thursday and friday...

oh yeah, about the picture; when bean and i were walking after work he sniffed around in this big clump of wet leaves and i was smitten with the explosion of color of the leaves. i had this hokey title in my head "don't ever leaf me", or something equally dorky. what about the explosion of color? you ask. well, truthfully, i got around to taking pictures so late that as the flash fired, i really didn't like the glint and glare, so i turned the flash off and struggled with the ambient light. it all came out far too red, so i converted to b/w.
