Spires

Glimpsed through the mature trees of Union Terrace Gardens, the twin spires of the former Congregational Church (William Leslie, 1865) dominate the view. Barely visible here is the top of the apse inspired by Lund Cathedral in Stockholm (?), I'll blip the apse another day :-). The mighty spire of the Kirk of St. Nicholas (with the clockface) is in the background. This spire is a replacement for the original that went up in flames ... some say that some of the wood used to build the original spire came from the Corbie Haugh (now UTG, from where this pic was taken).
