My Year in Pictures

1200 litres .....

66 inches x 30 inches x 36 inches
12mm thick glass
double base
1/3rd of a tonne in weight (glass only)
and the very start of the 1200 litres that it will take

I did get this delightful wee chap this morning and he was going to be my blip.

However at that point, I hadn't realised the true enormity of the task in hand this afternoon.

James was taking delivery of a new fish tank.

Alan had come down for the day to help.

I knew it was big as the base that James has built in the garage was pretty big - but even James got a shock when the back of the van was opened.

We then had to figure out how to get it out of the van, up the sloping drive, into the garage and then up onto the base.

With only 4 men and me.

And if it touched the ground it would shatter instantly.

So out the van and half up way the drive, they stopped for a break and contemplated the journey ahead.

It was completely nerve wracking and at this point I then had to put the camera down as there were more important jobs to do - like lift it up 3-4 foot onto the base.

But at last it was in position with the finishing touches being made and the boys could survey their handiwork.

Alan was mesmorised by it's scale (as we all were!) and insisted James started to fill it before he left.

And this blip of the first litre of the 1200 it will take, won the blip vote.

I was seriously impressed with all 4 of them - the pictures really don't do the size or the weight of it justice - quite incredible - particularly as the delivery man confessed afterwards he didn't think it was going to be possible!

James has definitely earnt his meal out tonight!
