Organised Chaos

I tend to work in organised but chaotic looking piles. I know what's there. I even know roughly where in the pile it is. My husband prefers all things neat, and keeps putting things away.
This leads to me running around like a headless chicken looking for the information that I knew was two thirds of the way down the pile and now can't find, etc, etc.
I'm sure I'm not alone.
This is the old shoebox I keep on my coffee table. I keep my photo transfer equipment, my ipod, my medical stuff, some pencils and pens and nail stuff in it. There are also sundry small items, but I know what they are. I just rummage for them.
Hands off my piles!
