We Fit

No, not the Nintendo version, but the Halfords version.

Last night driving home from Fife Ness we noticed that our nearside dipped headlight wasn't working, so tonight after another bird watching excursion to Fife we stopped off at Halfords to pick up a new bulb. Would you like us to fit it for you? They asked. At a cost of £5.99 I don't think so.

So took out the faulty bulb and noticed it wasn't the same as the one we'd bought. Not surprising says Mrs L, that's the main beam you've taken out. So put it back and took out and replaced the dipped headlight. Checked the lights, dipped headlight works fine now - main beam now doesn't! Checked the fuses which were okay so headed back rather sheepishly to Halfords and bought a new main beam. Would you like us to fit it for you? They asked. Mmmm, no comment.

Anyway all lights are now working and Mrs L's feeling smug because she wouldn't have been that daft. She's also feeling smug because she took a photo at Fife Ness yesterday which having got the advice of a couple of experts turns out to be a Red-footed falcon. This bird is a summer visitor to Europe (Apr - Sep) wintering in Africa. It is a vagrant to Britain & Ireland with about 5 - 10 records annually so to find one in Fife in November is a little bit special. The smug lady's photo can be seen here.
