On My Doorstep

End of (Second) Term Report

We were worried about 'bwhere' for a period during his second term. He havered, succumbed to blipfoto malaise and almost disappeared from view. But we are pleased to see that he recommenced submitting his assignments on time.

There have been improvements. He has learned a lot from his fellow blippers. He has achieved, at times, an admirable brevity when an image needs to speak for itself. Most importantly he has been able to see blippable material from unaccustomed angles.

Our worries about too much Photoshopping have proved unfounded (apart from this blip). He has adopted a natural rather than an extreme perspective in his digital darkroom.

Looking at his extramural activity we see that he has curbed his propensity for viewing and commenting on the work of others just to get some response himself. While we recognise that this can free up time and allow the student to concentrate on his own progress we do question whether it is in the best interests of the community as a whole. We will continue to watch this inclination.

Overall a craftsmanlike continuance (rather than artistic) has been noted. Steady progress. But 'bwhere' still needs to ask himself what he expects to get out of this endeavour as it could have a bearing on how he sees and represents the world around him.

On a more practical note, we would suggest that this student gets out more. His photography would benefit and so would his waist-line.
