Sea Urchin

This is an Edible Sea Urchin (Echinus esculentus). I'm not sure I've seen a live one before.

I went a shortish walk as I expected the weather to worsen, but it stayed dry if very overcast. I walked around St Mary's village in Holm. First out to Graemsehall Loch, then back and after watching the whooper swans and various ducks on St Mary's Loch, I walked around Howequoy Head.

This urchin was in a rock-pool there. A couple of ravens were curious as to what I was up to, and kept a wary eye on me.
