Burning Crosses ....

To be blunt The Lewes Bonfire Celebrations are extraordinary - I don't think there's anywhere else in Britain where the celebrations of Guy Fawkes' failure 405 years ago are so rejoiced. The parade is almost raucous with onlookers jammed on the pavements, hoping to get a glimpse of the revelry walking by. I have to admit that I did wonder about risk assessments and health & safety as the air filled with pink smoke, flaming flares and crosses as well as exploding "thunderblots(?)"!

Thanks to Long Slow Distance who kindly invited me over to see the extraordinary pagantry.
