Leaden sky over Golden Mile

Why this part of Fishguard is called the Golden Mile I have no idea. It must be ironic since it's far from golden nor is it a mile!
A couple of years back there would have been in this shot a greengrocer, a butcher, a clothes shop and, behind where I'm standing, an off-licence: all gone along with the other butcher and the main newsagent. The poisonous breath of a promised/threatened Tesco has blighted the already-struggling businesses long before the supermarket actually sinks its claws into the town.
In the summer the street would be busy with visitors ambling about and the flowerbeds planted up but today was particularly cheerless. A biting wind was whipping straight up from the sea which lies below on the right. No wonder the place looks deserted.
