November sunbathing

Another afternoon spent strolling round the local parks to avoid doing any real work, this time rather more succesful on the bird front. A total of 21 species in an hour and a half, including five Treecreepers (Certhia familiaris) and a Goldcrest (Regulus regulus). Not bad for the centre of Sheffield.

Despite the plethora of bird life out and about today none of my photos seemed to be coming out well. In the end this pair of Feral Pigeons (Columba livia) which were sunbathing on a lawn, soaking up the rare rays of sun, were the nicest picture I got. I find it very hard to believe some people think of pigeons as vermin when you see them like this. They really do look content with their lot in life.
