Armistice Day

On Armistice Day we commemorate the armistice signed to end World War I. During World War I Belgium saw some of the most severe battles fought out on its territory, causing a great loss of life. Therefore, Armistice Day is still really important over here. For example, in the town of Ieper/Ypres, the Last Post is still played every night to commemorate all the brave soldiers that lost their lives.

In Brussels there was a ceremony this morning with wreaths being laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by among others the Crownprince of Belgium. We went to have a look this afternoon and got soaked by the storm that is approaching.
