Alvarado Hotel Mural

On of the bitterest regrets I have hear from lifelong Albuquerque residents is the demolition of the old Alvarado Hotel in 1970. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century as one of the famous Harvey House railroad hotels.

This mural not far from the site of the hotel expresses that anger people felt about this stupid decision by city officials. Since then the Rail station burnt down and was replaced by a station made in the image of the Alvarado Hotel. Not a substitute but a lovely southwest style building. I'll get a good photo of the station one day soon when I am downtown.
