'They Razed Paradise - And Put Up A Parking Lot'

AKA Wholesale Logging In Edinburgh's Parks...

Took the dogs to the Hermitage this morning to stretch their legs and was met with ths appalling sight. I don't know what the council is doing - but it seems to involve cutting down pretty much every tree they can get their hands on and flogging them off. Yes, you occasionally see a young sapling with a green casing as a 'sop' to new for old - but look at these trunks. They're not old. They're not diseased. That's the usual excuses we get when trees are felled. The Hermitage is being reduced to a mud filled sludge instead of a pleasant, green and extremely beautiful place for families. It happened in The Braid Burn Park, where they felled 50 year old cherry trees and planted some others. It's been happening in the Hermitage for a couple of years now. They say they have a plan.
Yeah - to make as much money from flogging the timber as possible. I suspect....
Not pleased today. Not at all.
