Polymer Clay 2

Beads & a frame on the left hand side. Tiles & dress on the right.

I am not a lover of very bright colours so when i chose the two colours to work with jade & pastel blue were picked.

Conditioning clay takes a while & needs strong hands; bit like a bakers... Next it was passed through the pasta machine i Bliped, earlier this year, many times. Followed tutors instructions carefully & still managed to get a greeny blue shade, lol.

Used some of the left over pastel blue to add to the clay & that's how the striations happened. So far not very good, still early in the day.

Next it was creating the bead shapes. Seems everyone else had a plan. Never used clay before so had no plan, hopefully i would learn the basics & then go home to make more beads.

There were 6 eager students & just one very small oven. Two had to leave early so got their pieces in first, it was fantastic to see how they had turned out, good colours, shapes & textures.

So, found out i'm not a natural & need lots more practice. Need to buy a small electric oven & various other bits & bobs. H&S was paramount & quite put me off as we were told about potential toxic phylates... Very happy that the tutor was so on the ball & gave us all a greater understanding of all sides of using polymer clay.

Got fed up making the same beads so started to do a bit of playing (at last!). Inspired by others i decided to make clay tiles as these can be so more versatile. Found i enjoyed this process much better because i was able to incorporate stamping into the tiles to add texture.

The picture shows most of the items i made, next stop is to round the tile corners & then add perhaps Cosmic Shimmer or perfect Pearls powders. Finally decide what to make with them.

I'm not a girlie girl but am really pleased with the dress. Put holes in the shoulder areas & am going to make a necklace from it just for me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this rather drawn out post. Enjoy Tuesday. Only 5 more sleeps until go & see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows part 1 yeah! :-)
