Paddy Barry's lounge bar Part II

An abysmal day - gales, torrential rain and flooding. This rather sad and forlorn little image goes with the day. I blipped an example of the lettering back in August, but here is the whole thing. Once a prosperous and lively pub, according to local remembrances, now a sad neglected blot in the village. The lettering is rather beautiful and I like the many layers of colour on the very 'distressed' door. Tradition was to have a shop in the front of the building and a bar at the back, thereby serving all needs simultaneously.  it is currently for sale and would suit a DIY enthusiast with a bit of cash!

Finished work nice and early and was blown home by a south-easterly. Too wet to do anything so I decided to unleash the inner domestic goddess and do a bit of baking. She was a bit astonished but has come up with a creditable apple and cinnamon cake :). The rest of the day will be spent on a spot of genealogy. I have traced my Berwickshire ancestors (father's side) back a couple of hundred years - (shepherds and rabbit catchers to a man) and am now trying to track down my mother's side - confectioners on Jersey and coachtrimmers in Soho by the look of them! Strangely addictive - must be getting old!
