Back to the 70s

The tiles in the kitchen were removed today, but since the area underneath needs skimming, we have to live with no tiles until the plasterer comes in to make it all lovely and flat for the tiler to so his stuff. So, instead of lumpy wall, I've covered the area with the colourful placemats that I bought from a charity shop a long time ago. The pattern isn't that far removed from the piece of wallpaper that the tiler found by the dishwasher socket. Since the kitchen was built in the 1970s, I'm guessing the wallpaper was from that era. DIY is like archaeology.
