Six Thirty AM Los Angeles Time

Well unsurprisingly I've been awake for some time, having only arrived yesterday, but actually I did manage about 8 hours sleep, perhaps courtesy of some melatonin given to me by a friend. Let's see if it helps with the jet lag. Feel fine this morning.

Lazy blip, just out of the hotel window. Will wander further afield for subsequent ones, but just now I wanted to capture this which reflects the atmospheric pollution as much as anything else. Yesterday evening we were travelling from the airport as the sun went down and you could see it hanging like a big red ball on the horizon, refracted through the heavy atmospheric pollution.

Anyway, this is taken from the 21st floor of the Westin Bonaventura Suites, or whatever it's called. Strikes me this is a hotel that was built/renovated for the 1984 Olympics. Has a slight 80s retro feel about it. The room itself is fine, although not huge by US standards. The lobby and public areas are amazing with water features and a terribly echoing sound.

A facebook album of other pictures is here.
