Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall....

Many years ago my mother decided to go to a furniture auction. My father suggested she should look out for picture frames as they could occassionally turn out to be quite valuable. As it happened from where she was sitting she couldn't really see what the auctioneer was presenting but heard the word 'frame' so stuck her hand up. Nobody else did. She got it for £2 without having any idea what she had bought. When she saw it she was horrified to see it was a stained old mirror with ripped dark green crushed velvet - something she would never have chosen to buy if she could have seen it! Anyway, she didn't like to admit defeat and took it home anyway. When she moved back to Germany some time later she took it to a local picture restorer who replaced the velvet and the mirror and repainted the wooden bit so that she now likes it. It's probably still only worth £2 though... I think the stained mirror might have had more value funnily enough.
