This coupon enables the recipient to buy 50 kg of fertiliser, which retails for 4300 to 4500MKw for 900Mkw, which is about 4.50 euro. This amount is used on about half an acre of maize.
This system of subsidising fertiliser, is used by the Malawian Goverment to help poor farmers increase maize production.
I have asked Harisen for an outline of how the programme is administered and await his reply.
