Waiting

This pic looks like it was taken in Dublin this evening, dreary.
This is the hungry season, at the start of the rains.
The maize is running out fast and ir's 100 days to the new cror

The kids: Nyuma with a baby named Siwa behind her back.
They were waiting for their mum who went to fech fire wood, it's getting dark and their mother has not yet come.

If I were a betting person, I could bet that the firewood will be wet, that their meal of today has been eaten, that they will go to bed hungry, that they will have no light except a poor fire, that their mother is a widow, that rain will come through the roof and that there is no one to help them (except Harisen).
This is not a story, its a fact, happening now.
