Extraordinary parliamentary elections in Kosovo

Few moments after the long marathon in a special session of the Kosovo Assembly, which was voted for the motion of no confidence against the government, Acting President of Kosovo, Jakup at a press conference announced that it has decreed the dissolution of Parliament.
Under the Constitution and the powers that gives the highest law of the country's acting president, Jakup has decided that extraordinary elections to be held in December 12, 2010.

Kosovo's parliament ousted Prime Minister Hashim Thaci's government in a no-confidence vote, paving the way for elections to be called within 45 days.

The assembly voted 66-1 on Tuesday to bring down Thaci's government, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008, and disband Kosovo's 120-seat assembly. Kosovo's acting President Jakup Krasniqi set december 12th, as a date for general elections.

The vote comes following a decision by Thaci's main coalition partner, the Democratic League of Kosovo, to leave the government.
