What winter is all about

It was a wise call to move our car under the shelter of the garage late last night. When we awoke, there was the trademark silence that comes with a covering of snow. No cars, barely a noise, a matt sound and an illumination which makes everything look magical.

Unfortunately number 1 son has been suffering from what can only be described as intense raw bum issues, wherein his derriere looks as if it has bene on holiday in the sun without any suncream. It is partially teeth, partially down to the acidic concoction of food we have been giving him recently. I would be tempted to share the misery with others but it really is an ugly sight, the poor wee mite! Ah well, not much sleep last night.

The wonder of snow, I recall the joy of investigating to see if we could find wild animal tracks, the inherent danger of coming across yellow snow and the multitude of games we would play, variations of which I have passed on to the kids.

I managed to clear our path and that of our neighbours, that was my good deed for the month. After that we met our neighbours and finally did as we had promised the girls, sledging. Child #2 said twice in the last 48 hours that this is her favourite season, I guess because of the ability to go sledging. It was brilliant, and I wonder if she should not try skiing at some point.

On the whole our days are very good, yesterday was brilliant, didn't stop from morning til night, today surpassed it. The photo today shows the place where we went sledging, well some of the untouched snow. Even managed to take in my nephew's third art exhibition, he is one talented guy.
