The Great Escape

Our normal journey south from Perth takes six and a half hours, but because East Coast are running an emergency timetable it was going to be eight and a half today, so we decided to head off earlier in order to get home at our normal time.

Here's Mrs L at 8:15 en-route to the station in waterproof bottoms, walking boots & walking poles! (incidentally the rucsac I carry is just a wee bit larger). We then found out that all trains between Perth and Edinburgh had been suspended due to signalling problems, but were advised to wait on platform four and see what turns up. Our planned 8:48 train turned up at 8:55 but rather than going round the Fife coast it was diverted via Stirling which got us into Edinburgh too late for our early train and put us back on our normal timetable, the 12:30 to Peterborough which got us home at 19:30 - An eleven hour journey, but at least we were back, and even back in time for Andrew's Pub Quiz - I'll tell you all about that tomorrow.
