Christmas at Biebrich

This is the Christmas tree outside Schloss Biebrich (I'm pretty sure that Schloss in this instance means palace rather than castle - how many pink and white castles have you seen before (outside Disneyland/world of course)?). This place is worth a visit for the grounds behind this - a huge big avenue between Chestnut trees and Oaks filled with screeching parakeets (today's bird life was added to by 2 huge storks flying overhead, a couple of buzzards doing that soaring on thermals thing and a woodpecker (complete with red skullcap) teasing me into trying to getting a picture and then f***ing off to become a blob against the sky.)

This was a walk that will be worth repeating - I want to get a picture of the ballroom behind this tree. Hugely ornate room with rather splendid chandeliers. Very OTT but it's that time of year.
