School concert

This is a fine young 'cellist called William. The reddish light reflected in the instrument is the radiant heater in the Sports Hall, which has a surprisingly good acoustic once full of people. The specialist architects who designed purpose-built studios for BFBS would be horrified at the thought.

I caused an acoustic nuisance and upset one parent who found my clicking shutter obtrusive. I remember now why I loved my first camera, a Kodak Retina IIC, made around the year I was born by clever German engineers. It had a folding design, so compact; and a Compur diaphragm shutter which was almost silent.

Later I started my love of Olympus cameras with the magical Pen F half frame - the short travel of the focal plane shutter, and lightweight mirror was also fairly quiet.

My E-410 is great but embarrassed me tonight.
