Getting my ducks in a row

I think these ducks could be in trouble soon; from the two pairs I saw early in the summer, there are now as many as 40 at a time in the downtown park that they have adopted. The Parks and Recreation committees will soon be debating their removal, having managed to get the Muscovy population down to a reasonable level. The lakes and ponds are full of fish, and the vacuum they create with their expulsions, is soon filled; today I saw several families of cormorants, egrets, ibis, heron, wood storks and the hooded mergansers. These black-bellied whistling ducks are such fun. They are very excitable and take off in a flurry of chestnut and white feathers, whistling away for all they are worth.
