Dogs served too

Fishguard, whose people once lived almost literally upon herrings, now has no regular place to buy fish but Ken drives up from Milford every Tuesday morning, parks his van here and opens the back to reveal a mobile fish counter.
It means we can satisfy our urge for seafood and have a chat about the weather before he drives off to visit outlying villages. I don't know how many years he's been doing it but the service is greatly appreciated and would be much missed.

Ken has been off sick for the past few weeks with heart trouble and his place was taken by the assistant who is serving here. It's a cold job on a day like today but as I passed by I noticed that having a helper allowed Ken to attend to his canine customers too, delving into his pocket to hand out treats. Whatever else is amiss, his heart is a warm one.
