Train to New York

My wife took an Amtrak train this morning to New York City to deal further with the renovation of our apartment.

Here she is in the station in Springfield (20 miles from home), waiting for the departure of the train to be announced, with the train reflected in the window around her (I'm blipping from the outside).

Train service is less than ideal from here (indeed to a degree we feel fortunate to have it at all). I believe there are two trains a day--one takes a shuttle train to New Haven which makes six stops in about 75 miles, and then the connecting train to the city (about 4 hours altogether, for a trip of 140 miles). There are eight numbered tracks at the station--in the distant past it must have seen much greater use. We usually take our car.

Many thanks to everyone who looked in on yesterday's 300th blip--it's been quite a ride, and support from the blipfoto community has been wonderful.
