Christmas Tags

Tried to get some Christmas shopping done after work ... the service in Debenhams was dreadful. They even left the security tag on the lovely red knitted beret I bought my sister in law. Now what do I do? Take it back and set the alarms off going in or give it to her with the tag on so that every time she goes into a shop wearing it she sets alarm bells ringing! Could take it off I guess but it says that's dangerous!
