Despite previous blips providing evidence that I have made the Christmas puddings and cake weeks ago, I'm still feeling a deficit of Christmas spirit. In fact, I'm positively Grinch-like this year.

In an attempt to jolly myself along, I've been shopping for Christmas decorations and a new tree. Our trusty old artificial tree - bought our first married Christmas, 16 years ago - has been casting "needles" at an embarrassing rate.

At least these little disco balls could fool the unsuspecting that I am in fact a cheerful sort. Couldn't they?
