One precious pebble

Rubies I relish,
Amethysts adore,
Agate I admire,
Marble even more.
Emeralds I envy,
Carnelian I crave,
Garnets and gold
I'd take to my grave.
But the gem that is most valuable
Is always in my reach:
The one I chose to cherish
From so many on the beach.
Diamonds are delightful,
Sapphires satisfy,
But this one precious pebble
I shall keep until I die.
