Batique Shadows

I wasn't feeling very inspired today, but the sun was shining when I popped out to get a sandwich at lunchtime, and there were some more striking shadows on campus.

Just about the only form of image manipulation that I use is cropping, and that only sparingly. This is an exception though in being quite a severe trim, largely to get rid of extraneous buildings and street furniture - shame about the lampost in the middle though.

I like the way these shadows reveal the subtle undulations of the ground, and as they branch the overall pattern has something of the feel of a zebra's stripes, or a batique effect.
