Lightbulb moment

Had to change a lightbulb earlier. I think I can remember when this was a simple task, but that was before.

Before we had halogen spotlights (three different types)

Before we had a mixture of bayonet and screw-in and just plain weird fittings.

Before we had tiny bulbs, and funny-shaped bulbs and a bewildering array of energy-saving bulbs.

I have no idea how many different types of bulb we have in the house - but it's a lot. Which makes it even more annoying when you can't find the one you need.

Incidentally, given the sluggish way most lightbulbs light up these days, a "lightbulb moment" is a pretty poor description of sudden inspiration.
