Junco or Worse Junk

I had many other things planned for today, and took various pictures in a deli and in a huge superstore but none of them ended up appealing to me. Some other time.

This was taken in the morning before I headed out. It's the lovely Northern Junco. I've tried to catch him before, and will again, but today this is the best it's going to get.

It's a small bird around 5 ½ inches and they are in our area only in the fall and winter. They apparently prefer the colder weather and leave for Northern Michigan and Canada in the summer.

They rarely come to the feeders but can be found on the ground under them. This fellow was poking around under a rhododendron, however, looking for whatever he could find. The metal you see to the left of him is a small bird sculpture. Sort of fitting.
