78 Derngate

I had to go to Northampton this morning to have my eyes looked at and poked - at least, that's what it feels like at the moment.
We made the most of it and took our cameras along. Just around the corner is 78 Derngate, which is a Charles Rennie Mackintosh house - the only one in England, designed for W. J. Bassett-Lowke, who had a very successful model making business as well as being interested in architecture and art himself. He probably designed part of the house and gave Mackintosh specific instructions on what he wanted. We visited the house a couple of days ago - if you are interested in architecture and design, it's well worth a look.
