deep and soggy and uneven

When the water cycle was explained in geography in school there was never any mention of the stage when water spends a couple of weeks heaped at the side of the road, slowly acquiring a layer of unpleasant motor by-product particulates on the outer surface of the heap which slowly concentrate as they sink gently downwards when causing melting of the exterior of the heap due to their reduced albedo relative to pure snow before finally being leached onto the road during sufficiently-swift melting before being dragged up by a passing tyre tread for just long enough to be flicked rearwards onto my ankles, pedals and the bit of the chain passing underneath the chainring. When next there is a spare daylight moment I'll have to spend it outside the back door with a nailbrush and some Muc-Off to try and reduce the excess weight I'm carrying around in the form of grime. Apart from that all the nice cold is very pleasant and some of the meltwater around today looked almost fresh enough to have a slightly beneficial cleaning effect on my trainers, though some areas were re-freezing my lunchtime when I popped out to get an office secret santa present from the cheese shop.
