Nigerian Nativity

We purchased these hand-carved African figures a few years ago now, from what was then called the 'Third World Centre' when it was still trading from a chapel in the basement of The Kirk of St Nicholas, Aberdeen.

The rich facial expressions and postures give these figures a huge dramatic power and potential. Sometimes it's only after a 'classic' Nativity scene has been set up that you realise all the dramatic tensions and possibilities lurking in what you've subconsciously created.
