What is it with technology??? I have just bought a camera that can do the most amazing stuff (if only I can work out how it happens), yet we can't get any mobile reception at home. OK, we don't have to stand on our heads, but there is only one small corner that gets a bar or two, sway a bit to the left or right and you're gone.

So here's my partner, in the little corner, receiving a message from our kids who are currently in Amsterdam, and soon on their way to Paris for Christmas. It will be our first Christmas without them (they are 21, and 19 year old twins) so it's great excitement when we hear from them.

As is abundantly clear from everyone's amazing blips, the weather in Europe is extraordinary - from here it just looks beautiful, not cold, windy, wet and inconvenient, nope, just beautiful. Well the message today was that they had heard it was snowing in Blackheath where we live in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. With less than a week to Christmas. So much for the famous Australian summers! In fact it hadn't snowed (it did in the alps south of us) but it was jolly cold here as well.

Bring on the heat - time to get swimming!
