Winter Solstice

The word 'solstice' comes from the Latin 'sol' for sun, and 'sistere' for stand still. Which means that after today the days will start to get longer again...
The Romans celebrated the feast of Saturnalia, and the Pagans celebrate Yule.
The alarm went early this morning so that I could see the Lunar Eclipse. It was really bright, and freezing cold! The eclipse could well have been my blip for today, but...
we went to Keswick for a walk and to get supplies for the festive season. As you can see, Derwentwater is frozen and there is snow on the tops!
